How should the difficult conversations that will secure an
effective succession begin? For us, they often begin with
talking to a client about making or updating their will,
when they are ready to think about how their legacy can
benefit their family, a community, charitable causes
or wider society. The will is typically the foundation
for this. During this conversation, clients may not
only choose executors and trustees who they trust to
carry out their legacy but also decide what controls
and responsibilities they are prepared to relinquish in
their own lifetime.
